Direct Officer (正官)

Legitimate authority, status, and self-discipline.

Definition

Direct Officer (正官, zhèng guān) is the Ten God for the element that controls the Day Master, with the opposite yin-yang polarity. It is the second Authority (官殺) god.

Meaning in a chart

Direct Officer represents legitimate, orderly authority: responsibility, status, reputation, rules, and healthy self-discipline. It points to someone respectful of structure who earns position through proper means — a reliable manager, official, or professional. Classically, in a female chart it can indicate the husband. Where Seven Killings is forceful, Direct Officer is measured and law-abiding.

Example

Metal controls Wood, so if your Day Master is 甲 (Yang Wood), then 辛 (Yin Metal) is your Direct Officer — opposite polarity.
